About The Coffee
The coffee sector needs strong women, just like Epiphanie Mukashyaka, the founder of Buf Café in Rwanda. She is a dynamic businesswoman and a source of inspiration to countless other female entrepreneurs in Rwanda’s coffee sector and beyond. Her farm was named with ‘Buf’, which is derived from the former name of the region in which its washing stations are located - ‘Bufundu’.
To emphasize on coffee quality and expand the specialty Rwandan coffee market, she established Remera washing station with a loan from the Rwandan Development Bank and the assistance of the USAID-financed PEARL project.
This programme actually helped Rwanda's small-scale coffee farmers to rebuild their production.
We appreciate their high level of care taken placed in processing from all Buf washing stations. For example, cherries are hand-picked only when fully ripe and pulped that same evening using mechanical pulper that divides the beans into three grades by weight.
